Despite the advances made by Man there is a fundamental problem for which we, as a species, have not yet found a reasonable solution. I will not make you guess; the problem is this: What should one do with their hands? How many of us have started smoking to give our hands something to do? The monster is appeased in winter because we may then pouch our hands into our hoodies; but only momentarily for we take our hoodies off when it's too hot inside.
If you are someone who can appreciate the desire to find something for your hands to do, then these Rules may be for you. If you incorporate them into your sense of being, into how you relate to the world, then you may find that your hands have a use. Or, I'm not having any fun at this party. Do I need to stay here to show people that I am still alive and am relevant, or can I go home and get high properly? What is the goal of life, if not to gain larger problems and make your small, essential, and AlwaysNaggingNeverCeasing problems seem irrelevant by comparison?
We start small, and although the temptation may be present to not focus on these small, opening steps, all are encouraged to overcome. The seeds of the oak are in the acorn, and to an extent these first rules will be THE MOST IMPORTANT. If we were building a temple, then these are the cornerstone.
